Pride of Pakistan: Dutch organization nominates 8th Class Malala for International Peace Award  Swati girl and the brave daughter of Pakistan, Malala Yousafzai has been nominated for the International Children Peace Award.  

Malala is 13-years-old girl. She lived in Mangora, Swat Valley. Her father is a principal of school. Back in 2003 to 2009, when the Taliban became the de-facto rulers of Pakistan's Swat region they ordered girls’ schools to close as part of an edict banning girls' education. At the time, Malala was just 11, but she spoke out through an anonymous diary on BBC Urdu's website, later featured in two New York Times documentaries and Geo’s Program ‘Capital Talk’.

Malala said ‘She become a victim of ban imposed by the Taliban on girls education in Swat two years back but she never give up.’ She voiced against Taliban’s suffocating regime.     

In recognition of her courage, she was recently short-listed for the International Children Peace Prize,Pride of Pakistan: Dutch organization nominates 8th Class Malala for International Peace Award  awarded by the Dutch organization ‘Kids Rights’. Malala, a Class 8 student, have beaten 93 contestants from 42 countries to be nominated for the International Children’s Peace Prize 2011. She is the first Pakistani girl who is nominated for the Nobel Peace Award.

Malaa said that ‘I am very glad to be nominated along with four other girls. I am inspired by Michaela who, despite her physical disability, fights for the rights of special children.’

‘Whether I win the prize or not, I will continue my efforts. My wish is to set up a vocational institute for the marginalized girls of Swat so they can stand on their feet in the future,’ she added.

‘I wanted to show the world that people of Swat are peaceful and loving. They are not terrorists.’ she added.
