memo-gate-scandalISLAMABAD - The Supreme Court of Pakistan on Monday started hearing the memogate scandal case which has created waves in Pakistan’s politics.
During the course of hearing, Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry scolded Attorney General Maulvi Anwarul Haq over former federal minister and Pakistan Peoples Party leader Babar Awan’s press conference in which he had criticized court’s decision on formulating a commission to investigate memo scandal.
“Court orders were reticulated in former minister’s press conference. Was it governmental action or minister’s individual act? What is government’s point of view on it?” the CJP asked the AG.
He ordered the AG to show Awan’s press conference in the court room, besides submitting federation’s written statement on the minister’s act.
